Binghamton University's 39th annual Poetry and the Children Day - which is kicked off by an annual children's poetry reading event that brings over 450 students from 41 schools and 14 school districts from across the Southern Tier region together for a day of poetry readings. The event was established as a memorial to Robert Pawlikowski; a published poet, creative writing instructor and campus administrative assistant at Binghamton University who passed away in 1975. The aim of this event is to promote the appreciation of poetry and help foster creative writing in the elementary and middle school grade levels of the region's community.
For this project a 150 page book was designed as a collection of all the participating students' poetry. For this year's 39 annual event the poetry book was created to be interacted with as a coloring book for the children, so they would be further engaged with the poetry and the book itself after the event.
